I think this month has been amazing for me in different ways. I carried the Paralympic Flame for York and that was pretty amazing. There have been a few interviews about it and press articles (click the links), which is nice. It's always great to have such positive feedback, and I am absolutely in awe of some of the people I have met, and the great athletes involved in the Paralympic for Team GB this year. Incredible stuff.
I am about one week away now, from the National Diversity Awards in Manchester. I'm so excited. It's wonderful just to be nominated, and I am obviously going to meet some absolutely amazing people. Here, I just want to say one HUGE thank you to everyone that nominated me and took time out to support me. I have no excuse to be lazy ever...ever again! Win or lose, I am proud to be at this point. I still can't believe that it's happened/is happening!
In other news, I went to Leeds Festival and saw some amazing bands. The Cure and Foo Fighters - absolutely amazing - there are no words. You can watch some of TC's set (via the good folks at the BBC) at the bottom of this post (first video). There will be a review of the festival over the coming days. I am being pretty slow in writing up my coverage, to be honest. But, in the meantime, we did some very cool interviews for the site. Check out the links below.
Young Guns
Anti-Flag
Hadouken!
Gallows
Modestep
The Skints
There's also some cool interviews on the site from another great Yorkshire festival called Beacons. We spoke with Hawk Eyes and Blacklisters (click the links) - two of the best bands to emerge from Leeds in ages. Watch the video for Hawk Eyes' most recent video for 'Headstrung' below (second video). So yeah. That was awesome.
Other than that, and in a rather interesting professional development, I have begun working for Live Foresight (a web analytics company) writing blogs in relation to trends and music in social media. It's a new challenge for me, and definitely something that I am enjoying. Here's an example post (click the link) where I had a word with Division Promotions' Sarah Maynard (Division is one of the UK's premier PR agencies) about how social media can be used effectively in music PR. I like it, I think it's pretty cool. But then, I would, wouldn't I?!
Anyhow, I think that will do for this month. I hope that you enjoy the links and the videos below.
Much love and all that.
