It has been a very strange month. A very good one, though. I won the National Diversity Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence (Disability category), which is pretty awesome; I got some nice press for that.
I have also been working hard on the Soundsphere magazine website, getting news posts and new interviews arranged. Expect more to come in November and December.
It's been a pretty surreal experience, all-in-all. I am blown away by the support that I have been shown, and I think it will stay lodged in my memory forever. I feel truly honoured that such a great ceremony (in its first year), the National Diversity Awards chose to spotlight my work with Disabled Entrepreneurs, Soundspheremag.com and The Creative Condition. Of course, these are things that are done for love, and it's nice that they have worked commercially for me too.
Once again, it's truly amazing to be in this situation, and it's already given me some great opportunities to talk in schools. I am looking forward to seeing how this develops in the future – I feel like, this is always how my career was meant to develop. Like I often say when I do talks in schools and stuff like that, I started the magazine (my first business effort) to meet with, discuss things with, and get drunk with rockstars, and that turned into so much more. It turned into a way for me to mentor young people, and mentor them. Now, in 2012, that's why I run the magazine, and I've done The Creative Condition and Disabled Entrepreneurs as off-shoots of that. It's a tough job; I literally don't/can't stop! I am sure some of you know what that's like!? Still, it's pretty freakin' cool, and I am very lucky. I feel truly inspired, and I hope that other people (one day) become inspired by my work, and the work of the National Diversity Awards. It was amazing just to be considered alongside so many brilliant, and all-inspiring individuals. It still blows my bloomin' mind that I won!
That's all for now!
My friend introduced me to this electronic act earlier today; Hive (easily Googleable then? No!) produced a record, and it got picked up by the Matrix soundtrack and did pretty well. Hive then stopped making music. It's a shame, because this is brilliant. The tune is called 'Ultrasonic Sound'. It's not the best quality, mind. Forgive me!
All the best, and I'll speak to you soon!
